3 Talwandi Sabo (afterwards called Damdama) somewbero about the Sambat 1764. They cnp bo soep even now. A number of tbem passed through his bands and contain bis autograph. Somo of them cven include tbe by ends of the 9tb Guru. All these contain after the Mundawini, vot only the Ragmula, but a large number of other extraneous compositions as stated above. No sacriloge bas, therefore, beep committed, at least no more than in leaving out the other piecos, by getting about 200 copies bound to meet the demand of those Sabbas etc who wanted tbo Granth Sabib witbout any extraneous matter. * Sacrilege was undoubtedly committed, when some old scribe, ignorant of tbe consequences, copied this and otber pieces on the fly-leaves of the Gruntb Sabil, bo prepared. Again the Bbasour people are not the first to expunge it. Tbore exist about a dozon old manuscript copies wbich do not contain any sucb extraneous matter; even & printed edition appears witbout this Raxmula. lo my opinion tbe Bbasour poople bave done well io publisbiog tbe Granth Sahib in its purest form, uod expuoging all foreigo matter. wbich bnd do business to be io tbe Huly Book, even ir"the 'immoral associatious of the Raxmala in its source, be overlooked. The alarms raised regarding the action of the Bbasvur Dewan being takoo as a precedout by some people in future, to corrupt tbo text of the Granth Sabib itself, aro fapoiful and silly. What is there to prevent such pooplo from doing so -és Digitized by Panjab Digital Library / www.panja digilib.org
